Movies & Make up

Tomorrow will be Ellie's 6th birthday (although after a week at Disney and her epic party today I imagine she may sleep through it).

Today she celebrated with her friends.

It was a perfectly pink party with plenty to do.

Firstly, a table of crafts from beading to card making.

Granda Ken was on hand to photograph each of the guests and print out their picture which they stuck onto a photo frame which they could decorate....despite all the trappings of eyeshadow and sparkly nails, it reminded them that they are beautiful just the way they are.

But for these little girls (no names Josie) there is little less delightful that a very grown up "make up" party.

Ellie's dad had made a double sided mirror which went a loooooong way in transforming the chapel into a girlie salon.

At one side of the parlour was the hair studio...

...in which even the youngest client was treated to a new style.

Beside that was the nail bar.

Not only could you choose your polish colour

(the sparklier the better!)

You could also pick out extra decorations!

Of course, once you have your nails done (and dried) you do need someone to admire them....

Then of course there was the "real" make up.

Quotes...

"It is really real make up."
"Is it?"
"Yes, it's Ellie's mum's very own"
"Oh...I wonder does she have any indigo"
"Do you think we'll get lip gloss?"
"What's that black eyelashy stuff?"

To make it especially glamourous, there was pink champagne on hand...

...

Oh, you noticed the buns did you?

While you were waiting for your turn in the salon, you could decorate your own cupcake.

It wasn't long before Bea and Josie discovered another delight.

The chocolate fountain.

With a little encouragement, Bea went first...

It was a resounding success.

Which Beatrice then became quite evangelical about.

There was just enough time to show off "jazz hands" in a little homage to Gillian...

(these four little ladies were sporting their Angel face skirts...thanks Mrs Doogan)

Then it was time for party food.

This being a mcfaul (c) event that is spelt P A R T Y   F O O D

(Yes Ellie did have her very own sweet shop)

Then, with a shuffle of furniture and a dimming of the lights, it was time to settle down and watch "The Little Mermaid"

To add to the cinema effect, Ken did come around (sporting a very fetching head torch) to distribute popcorn (just incase any of the guests hadn't had enough to eat)

Then, all too soon, three hours had passed.  It was time to sing "Happy Birthday", blow out the candles, wish Ellie a happy birthday once again and head home.

Just incase you missed the cake...

In the car on the way home Bea said

"I want a party just like that."

I think that is proof a good time was had.
