One of the 50 things to do before you're 11 3/4 (according to the National Trust) is to eat an apple straight from the tree. Unfortunately the apple tree in our garden only bears the bitterest of cooking apples. So on Sunday we adventured down to Armagh, the apple county for "Apple Press Day" at Ardress House.
On arrival we had to stroke the donkeys.
Then we bought our bag and started to explore the orchard to fill it with apples.
Both Mummy and Daddy were happy to eat the apples straight from the tree, but "Health and Safety Bea" insisted they were washed before she would try one.
So we set off on a hunt in the farmyard while Daddy and the dogs explored the lady's mile (no dogs in the courtyard thank you very much)
We were able to crush some apples...
...and then press them to make fresh apple juice.
Cheers!
There was time to explore the adventure playground and try a few headstands.
Before listening to the mummers in the courtyard.
Then, just before we toured the house, we had a carriage ride.
All in all, a very exciting, appley day.
